TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION (TECNALIA) is a private, independent, non profit research organisation resulting from the merger of eight Spanish research centers. TECNALIA is one of the main Research & TechnologyOrganisations (RTO) in Europe.
TECNALIA’s strategic vision is to be a “private applied research center of international excellence with great impact on industry, and a center that attracts people and organisations.” The keys to enable this vision are marked by its private nature, focusing on applied research, being an international center of excellence (international contracts for R & D, foreign researchers, international support to local industries, licensing, IP), an impact on local industry (R & D projects and innovation in companies, spin-offs, training, certification, services, product testing and conformity assessment according to the CE marking) and attracting people who want to develop their creativity and organisations (networks), who want to interact and co-create knowledge with TECNALIA to transform society through innovation.
MATCHUP project is carried out by the Energy Efficiency area from the Energy and Environmental Division of TECNALIA. The Energy Efficiency area has established different lines of research: energy efficiency in buildings and districts, thermal energy laboratory, energy modelling, energy planning of cities and evaluation of interventions with Life Cycle perspective

Within MATCHUP, TECNALIA leads WP7 “Cluster of SCC projects – collaboration”, Task 1.1 “Advanced city diagnosis: identification and review of city challenges and priorities” and Task 1.5 “Replication and investment plans development in lighthouse and follower cities”. TECNALIA is also involved in the monitoring and evaluation framework definition (WP5), in the exploitation and business models definition (WP6) and in the communication and dissemination activities (WP8).
